Located in the central south region of Zanzibar Island, Jozani Forest Reserve is the last sanctuary in the world for the rare red colobus monkey. The forest is also home to Syke’s monkeys, bush pigs, and over 40 species of birds including the African Pygmy kingfisher, little greenbul, or Fischer’s turaco. During your walk enjoy a boardwalk that leads through the mangrove forests.
Beyond offering the opportunity to see butterflies very close, to feed them, and to learn about their fascinating lives, Zanzibar Butterfly Center is a community project that aims to protect endangered species of butterflies and to provide income to villagers.
The last stop of our tour will be at Jozani Spice Farm where you will learn about spices that grow in this so-called Spice Island and enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch.
